Atawhai News Flash: Week 3 Term 2

Geometry: Shapes!

In breaking news for Atawhai, we have been learning about 3D shapes and have had a lot of fun while doing it. First we took apart 3D shapes and labelled the faces and flaps.

Then we got a piece of paper and had to fold it from 2D into a 3D shapes and then when we finished we had to go into groups of eight and make something that included all of our shapes. in the groups that I was in, we decided to make a half castle and a half triangle tower. I think that the whole class did well when they made the shapes. there were some hard shapes to make. the shape that i made was a triangle. the shaps that we were allowed to make were: cyclinders, cones, cubes, square based pyramids, rectangular prism, diamonds,  and rectangular cuboids.

Wednesday Sport

At school Wednesday we had sport. I'm always looking forward to anyway.... When we were doing sport we played soccer. The game we played first was number soccer. That is one of my favourite games (out of most of my games). After that we played a proper match. I scored a header. I
was very proud of myself.

Week 3 Term 2 News Flash!

For the last couple of days we've been doing geometry. For maths we made 3D shapes. Then we got into groups of eight and put them together.

We also found out last Friday that we can be a part of St Ignatius Balloon Race, so we can make a virtual balloon and fund raise for our school to get some robotics equipment. There are some pretty cool prizes!

We are excited about sport because Y5 has a soccer, netball and rugby tournament coming up. The girls netball teams for the tournament are the same as usual. It's good to have something to look forward to.
